Gutter Protection Truths & Falsehoods
Q: Is it true that I’ll never have to get up on a ladder to clean my gutters again once I have gutter guards?
Although other companies make this claim, it is quite misleading. Our competitor’s gutter guards are often installed flat, rather than following the slope of the roof. With this type of installation, their gutter guards act like a shelf for debris. So although the gutters may not need to be cleaned out, the guards themselves will likely still require cleaning in order to function properly.
While high quality sloped gutter guards perform far better than flat ones, even they may require occasional cleaning — especially in neighborhoods with lots of trees. That’s why Value Group offers gutter guard cleanings on an as-needed basis, or as part of a service agreement. We set realistic expectations, and we’re always just a phone call away.
Q: Can all homes benefit from gutter protection? Or am I better off with regular gutter cleanings?
Homes with trees nearby almost always benefit from gutter guards. When properly selected and installed, gutter guards reduce debris buildup and minimize the time and effort needed to maintain clean gutters. Debris that collects on top of the guards is much easier to clear off than debris packed inside the gutters.
That said, if your home has no trees nearby, or if you simply prefer not to install gutter guards, we also offer professional gutter cleaning. We photograph your gutters before and after, so you know exactly what’s been done, and we charge based on the volume of debris removed.
Q: Aren’t all gutter guards basically the same?
Absolutely not. Today’s market includes dozens of gutter guard options — some are flimsy and ineffective, while others offer exceptional protection when used in the right context. Roof type, pitch, tree coverage, and local rainfall patterns all factor into which guard is best.
Avoid companies that sell only one kind of guard — no single product works best for every home. We’ll explain your options clearly so you can choose what’s right for your specific situation.
Q: What can happen if I choose the wrong type of gutter guard?
The wrong guard can cause overflow, clogging, or even structural damage. Some products block water from entering the gutter altogether during heavy rain, which can lead to rot, flooding, and foundation issues. We’ve seen it firsthand. That’s why we match each home with the right system — or we won’t install anything at all.
About Value Group
Q: Do you manufacture your own gutter guards?
No. And that’s one of our strengths. Unlike manufacturers who only sell their own product, we offer over half a dozen of the best-performing brands. That lets us tailor the solution to your specific roof, home design, and environment.
Q: Why choose Value Group instead of a local contractor?
When you hire Value Group, you are hiring a local contractor — one that specializes in gutter protection. Our contractors are vetted for experience, reliability, and professionalism. They use top-tier products and meet our high standards for workmanship and customer service.
Q: What makes your approach different?
We’re not locked into selling any one product. We evaluate your needs, present clearly explained options, and let you decide — without pressure. We also stand behind everything we install.
Installation & Maintenance
Q: Do gutter guards require maintenance?
Yes. Wind-blown debris like pine needles and seed pods can accumulate on top of guards. While good systems shed most debris, no solution is 100% maintenance-free. That said, steeply pitched gutter guards often require minimal upkeep because debris is more likely to slide off on its own. We offer one-time and annual maintenance services to ensure your system keeps working as intended.
Q: Can every home support a sloped gutter guard installation?
Not always. Some rooflines or gutter configurations make sloped installations impossible. In those cases, we offer high-performance flat-installed options and add-on accessories that help limit debris buildup. We’ll walk you through the pros and cons.
Q: What if I still need help keeping my gutter guards clean?
For homeowners who never want to get on a ladder again, we offer professional cleaning services — either on an as-needed basis or through a maintenance plan. You stay safe and your gutters stay clean.
Pricing, Estimates & Expectations
Q: How much do your gutter protection systems cost?
Costs vary based on roof complexity, gutter length, and product type. We provide clear, upfront estimates with no hidden fees or inflated prices. You’ll know exactly what you’re getting and why it fits your needs.
Q: Is the estimate really free?
Yes — and so is the education that comes with it. We’ll inspect your home, walk you through your options, and answer all your questions without any pressure.
Q: What if I decide not to move forward after the consultation?
No problem. We’ll part as friends. Our goal is to give you useful, accurate information — whether you hire us or not.
